Refund & Cancellation Policy for Foundation for NextGen Governance (FNG)
Effective date: 01-04-2025
1. Overview
This Refund & Cancellation Policy explains the terms under which participants may cancel course registrations and request refunds for programs, workshops, and subscriptions offered by Foundation for NextGen Governance (“FNG”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By enrolling in any FNG course you agree to the terms below.
2. Cancellation by Participant
- Before course start (Live cohort courses): Participants may cancel their registration up to 14 days before the course start date for a full refund less any non‑refundable fees specified below.
- Within 14 days of start / after course start: Cancellations made within 14 days of the start date or after the course has begun are eligible for a partial refund or credit only as described in Section 3.
- Self-paced courses: For self-paced, on-demand courses, participants may request a refund within 7 days of purchase provided less than 20% of course content has been accessed.
- Subscriptions / recurring billing: To avoid future charges, participants must cancel subscriptions before the next billing cycle. Refunds for already-processed subscription payments are handled per the “Refund Eligibility and Amounts” rules below.
3. Refund Eligibility and Amounts
- Full refund: Eligible when cancellation is made within the specified cooling-off period (e.g., 14 days before start for live courses; 7 days for self-paced purchases) and no non‑refundable fees apply.
- Partial refund: If cancellation occurs after the full-refund window but before course completion, FNG may offer a pro‑rated refund based on the portion of the course not yet delivered, less administrative and transaction fees. Pro‑rations are calculated from the official course start date and published schedule.
- No refund: No refunds will be issued for cancellations made after course completion, for participants who have accessed more than 20% of self-paced content (unless otherwise stated), or for no-shows where access was available.
- Non-refundable fees: Application fees, registration processing fees, and third‑party transaction fees are non‑refundable unless otherwise stated. Any fees charged by payment processors (including currency conversion and card network fees) may be deducted from the refund amount.
- Promotional purchases and scholarships: Courses purchased using promotional codes, scholarships, or deeply discounted offers may be non‑refundable or subject to special terms; such terms will be disclosed at the time of purchase.
- Refunds for technical failure: If FNG cancels a session due to technical failure or inability to deliver the course as advertised, participants will be offered a full refund or a credit toward a future course at FNG’s discretion.
4. How to Request a Refund
- Submit a request: Email refunds@fng.org (replace with actual email) with the subject line Refund Request – [Course Name] and include:
- Full name used at registration;
- Email address used at registration;
- Course name and cohort/date;
- Reason for cancellation;
- Order/transaction ID or receipt.
- Verification: We may require identity verification or additional documentation to process the request.
- Processing time: Refund requests are acknowledged within 3 business days. Approved refunds are processed within 7–14 business days; the time to reflect in the participant’s account depends on the payment method and bank.
- Method of refund: Refunds are issued to the original payment method unless otherwise agreed. If the original payment method is unavailable, FNG may issue a bank transfer or credit note at its discretion.
5. Cancellation or Rescheduling by FNG
- Course cancellation by FNG: If FNG cancels a course for any reason, participants will be offered either a full refund or a credit toward another FNG course. FNG’s liability for cancellation is limited to the refund or credit option.
- Rescheduling: If a course is rescheduled, participants will be offered the option to attend the rescheduled dates, transfer to another cohort, or receive a refund as described above.
- Instructor substitution and minor changes: FNG reserves the right to substitute instructors, change course content, or adjust schedules; such changes do not entitle participants to a refund unless the change materially alters the course and FNG is unable to offer a reasonable alternative.
6. Chargebacks, Disputes, and Fraud
- Contact us first: Participants must contact FNG at refunds@fng.org to resolve payment disputes before initiating chargebacks with their bank or card issuer.
- Chargebacks: If a chargeback is initiated, FNG reserves the right to suspend access to course materials and to recover costs if the chargeback is reversed in FNG’s favor. Repeated or fraudulent chargebacks may result in permanent suspension from FNG programs.
- Fraud prevention: FNG may refuse or cancel registrations suspected of fraud and will cooperate with payment processors and law enforcement as required.
7. Limitations, Indemnity, and Governing Law
- Limitation of liability: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, FNG’s total liability arising from or related to any course, purchase, or this policy is limited to the amount paid by the participant for the specific course giving rise to the claim. FNG is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages.
- Indemnity: Participants agree to indemnify and hold FNG harmless from any third‑party claims arising from their misuse of course materials, breach of these terms, or violation of applicable law.
- Force majeure: FNG is not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, strikes, pandemics, internet outages, or acts of government. In such events FNG will use reasonable efforts to reschedule or provide alternatives.
- Governing law and disputes: This policy is governed by the laws of [Insert Jurisdiction]. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts or dispute resolution forum specified in FNG’s Terms of Use.
8. Miscellaneous
- Taxes: Any taxes, duties, or levies applicable to course fees are the responsibility of the participant unless otherwise stated.
- Data and privacy: Refund and cancellation requests require processing of personal data; see FNG’s Privacy Policy for details on how we handle personal information.
- Policy changes: FNG may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted with an updated effective date. Continued enrollment after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
